Hawaii Hospitals Near Bottom in Patient Safety Study

Lucky you live Hawaii, but not so much if you're sick.

Hawaii was ranked in the bottom ten states in patient safety, according to The CareChex study, which rates the quality of U.S. hospital care. It reviewed care in each state according to 12 patient safety indicators. The indicators represent preventable patient safety events including post-operative hip fracture, post-operative hemorrhage and post-operative respiratory failure. The highest-ranked state offering the best patient care and safety, is Delaware, while the worst-ranked on the list is the District of Columbia. Hawaii was number 42.
